A DOT exam, or Department of Transportation medical examination, is required for commercial drivers to ensure they meet the physical and mental health standards set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Here’s an overview of the process and key regulations: Medical History Review, Physical Examination, Review of Current Medications with compliance with FMCSA regulations. 

After the exam, if the driver is found fit, they will receive a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), which is valid for up to two years. If there are medical concerns, the examiner may issue a conditional certification or require further evaluation.
